This past Saturday was the MN State Cyclocross Finale and it drew record entrants this year! Jay "Hollywood" Henderson would put together a course that drug us thru the beach volleyball area, up stairs, and even wide open asphalt paths. Bassett Creek is a fabulous venue to host an event of this nature. Well educated spectators know this too as they bring out a clip of dollar bills and whiskey shots in attempts to get some riders to play with the fans. Also, I like this one because it brings riders out of the woodwork that may have been done for a couple months. It's a last chance option for some to be outside before they're indoors all winter sweating their balls off on a trainer. Surprisingly, my fitness while pedalling was good but when I found myself on foot the tables were turned. Maybe it was because I gave it 110% on the bike due to the flat terrain?? Yeah, I'll just agree w/that. Anyway, I came in fourth in the singlespeed championship which was a place higher than last year so I am happy. If the pattern continues then I'll step onto the podium next year with better form expected. Otherwise, Charlie Farrow and Tim Ek are waiting for me to join them on some seven-hour rides this winter. I must say, w/how fuckin' fat I am right now...we could roll sunrise to sunset!!
