same pace, different length

Well, next time I do anything at the Whistlestop Festival it surely isn't going to be the 10k! I've run both the 6.2 and 13.1 races and have course PRs that average out to 6:03 and 6:04/mile, respectively. I was chatting w/my ultra mountain bike racing pal Tim Ek following the event as he was there watching his wife Amy. We came to the conclusion that I just plainly need terrain. Another note, this route doesn't get any flatter as it follows an old railroad bed and is straight ahead for most of it. My gut just wouldn't allow me to press under six-minute pace. Dry heaving was evident again as I made my way along. Oh well, I've always thought it might be a great marathon course. Besides, I doubt things would pan out the same but ya never know and if they did then I'd only welcome them in the case of 26.2! Results for the day were: 2nd place; time of 37:38
