STAIRS

After a 20-minute warmup on the ski trails I went to a nice flight along the river at the bottom of the park that leads up to Occidental. Doing repeats on such an obstacle gives a brief glimpse of the pain & suffering one experience during a cyclocross race. When I come into this season the HR monitor is only used to keep tabs on recovery and the RPE scale is a no brainer as well since it better be redlined at a 10 constantly or you're wasting your time. Personally, I look at it as more of an RPS(rating of perceived satisfaction) gauging whether I was truly in the 'hurt box' in the midst of any structured workout. This morning I had planned for 12 w/90 seconds of rest between each bout. After a half dozen, I worried my rest interval was too long but upon completing the ninth my snap began to fade. Blood was pooling in my fatigued legs to try and combat the anaerobic state they were in. Nonetheless, I got the job done and even went thru a little dizziness when I made it home.

Trail Run: 43 minutes
