almost pointless

Nineteenth annual Fitger's 5k was this morning and it was deja vu for the conditions. Another windy and rainy day like last year. I had absolutely no desire to race come Friday but registered before going to work to commit as I thought maybe the feeling would change over night.....nope! Passing 3rd Ave E had me soon contemplating stopping at Lake Ave and skipping Canal Park and the horrible 180 around a cone on Railroad Street. I basically hate spring as my allergies always get the best of me and this season has been no exception. Battling this daily while being active gets me worn thin. However, I like to get in a tough race during this time because it makes the days to come seem that much better. Otherwise, the performance is difficult to look past when you already have been dwelling on what is certain to be a negative. Oh well, I believe it is good to be humbled occasionally too. I felt just the same on a half hour cooldown w/Rod & Dave after. Here's hoping for improvement next week.

Duration: 18:42
