Cliff Dweller Inn
Jen received an email from this place about cheap rates before Memorial Day Weekend. So, we decided to take advantage of it and head up Sunday afternoon. Located in Tofte, it is near all sorts of fun spots to visit and the rooms have log cabin style furniture w/balcony views of Lake Superior. Once checked in, we drove up Ski Hill Road to Lutsen for a peak into Moguls Grille & Tap Room. Everything seemed great and chose to come back later following an excursion recommended by the lady at the front desk of Caribou Highlands. She sent us up a dirt road a little further north to see Caribou Lake from above. We hiked a long staircase up to a clearing where there were benches in a stadium seating arrangement facing the water. We figured this might be used by the Cathedral of the Pines Camp. Following this we stopped by Caribou Cream to grab two 12 oz bottles of REAL maple syrup and return for dinner. This morning I got dropped off to run a segment of the SHT from Onion River to Britton Peak. It's all in the timing as we both entered the lot simultaneously for the pickup. Conditions in the woods varied from very dry in areas w/sun to soggy by cedars and peaks. I felt really too good and had to contain myself as being off road was surely missed!! At the bottom of Sawbill is the Coho Cafe and I needed a caffeine fix prior to heading back to the Duluth.
