salty city

I didn't expect it to be sooner than later but in the Twin Ports anything can happen in terms of weather. Running three consecutive days isn't something I care to do very often but until conditions outdoors stabilize, going w/the flow will be required. Old Man Winter has been blowing some cold air for more than a week now and he even spit a little snow yesterday. As a result, the roads are coated w/whatever Duluth workers put down to make it safe for motorists and cyclists. It was nice while it lasted but my days of getting in a mountain bike ride on my way to work are done because I refuse to get that junk all over my racing steed. That's why I've got a commuter rig that I never have to wash. As for the week thus far I ran in the direction of Rockview Ct on Tuesday to include a little topo to the route.

Wednesday, I had planned on spinning the streets w/a buddy prior to work but they were quite slippy and chose to split up my Friday run into two parts and just deal w/the direct commute instead of any extra. Crazy as it seems...sketchy riding such as this is my favorite! I worry more about vehicles sliding into me more than falling myself. The handling skills are invaluable.

Earlier I received an email from Erik wondering if I wanted to run from my place any time soon and we got the stars to line up on Thursday. We kept it flat this morning following the snowy shoulders of Brighton Beach, Old Superior to Lakewood and back via Scenic 61. He's a great training partner since we're liberal w/our approaches.
