it took until June
Finally, I got a chance to run w/Hypo last Friday after an injury that kept him sidelined for six weeks. My plan was to do a progression run that was quite loose based for pace as I wore a HR monitor to assure the intensity bumped up in each of three segments. We did a familiar out-n-back on the lakewalk w/a loop around The Ledges @ the distal point which gave us a total of 7.53 miles according to his GARMIN. Knowing it was around that, I wanted to cut it into thirds and programmed my receiver to beep(or not) at me depending on the zone of effort. Well, I could tell right away that he was excited to run hard because after sticking to the plan for the first two & a half miles, he began one stepping me before the turnaround and I found us in the last zone prematurely. Oh well, we all know how workouts can get out of control when performed in the company of others. I was surprised to hear that we were sustaining 6:20/mile pace on the return to 51st Ave E where we inforced a cooldown. Great times buddy!!! Too bad we probably won't line up many of these during the work week.....BUT.....let me know if you play hooky again, OK?
