exhilaratingly impatient
Weather like this afternoon can befuddle my ability to distinguish between easy & hard days. Last week, I timed a run that later surprised me when calculating the pace as all efforts are mapped out in advance. In a group run yesterday, my usual decision is to not wear a watch as I prefer to get lost in the environment finding inspiration in both the company and landscape. One buddy remarked, "you're seeming a little feisty this morning." I was a bit surprised because my legs felt horrible before meeting up for our rendezvous. Once into the gravel sectors I honed in on my cadence and realized it was higher than normal without even consciously doing so. On the flip-flop, sunshine and 60F earlier made it difficult to slow down, even though, my energy level was poor. Plus, the freedom of less clothing only adds to such an effect. However, once again, I looked deep inside and did what needed to be done.....PULLED BACK ON THE REINS!
