not gonna spoil my day

Yesterday, I took off on my bike in blowing snow and immediately the tenacity in me raged hot! There's something about adverse weather conditions that always bumps my effort level up but seems to obliterate any perception of this. Hanging a left off the Lakewood Junction my concentration was distracted by the sudden POW that came from the rear of the machine. It sounded like someone opened fire @ me!! Nope, only a broken spoke that happened in a rather odd place. Usually, they've failed at the hub or rim but this one must have been weakened by one of the many rocks that get tossed in & discarded like a pinball game. So, I rolled back home w/a very wobbly wheel, changed quickly into my running gear and headed into the icy woods to get my feet wet in some flood waters. In the end, 2 1/2 hours split between crankin' and trail runnin' on another chilly spring day.

This morning, I didn't want Gregg or Henry to experience any of my misfortune from the previous day which led me to direct them on a safe lollipop 9-miler up Seven Bridges to some delicious gravel above. This was a new trio for me and as always.....it's wonderful to have such a great endurance community here in Duluth!!!
