May Day

Even if the US government discourages celebrating this holiday I couldn't help but stop and think how the eight-hour workday does not apply to me right now!!! Socialists & communists will have it their way as we adopted Labor Day. I just pulled a 16-hour workday that started Friday afternoon and ended this morning. That's one of the many beauties to our freedom, we can work ourselves to the bone if motivated or be a panhandler on a sidewalk(an idea in which I don't endorse).

As for training lately, I'm as happy as one could be w/my strength and overall fitness! On Sunday, a coworker dropped me off @ the Grand Portage Trailhead in Jay Cooke S.P. to run the SHT back to the I35 overpass and cooldown on the RR grade back to the zoo. 16.6 miles in three hours seemed really easy covering rugged terrain. Tuesday, I ran in Lester w/Kooks for just under an hour showing him all the new fun singletrack. It has been years since he last ran free of achilles pain but had a succussfull surgery. Nice seeing him in motion again!! Thursday, Chris Rubesch met me in the park for more of the same but included Hawk Ridge. Borrowing Clint's newer GARMIN is giving me an idea of how much ground there is on some loops. We did a variety totaling 11.16 miles in 1:32:45 for duration. He looks prepared for the Ice Age 50K.
