7915 steps

Over this past weekend, Jen and I were out shopping for cat food, toilet paper, etc etc etc @ Target when I noticed the New Balance logo near the end of one aisle. Curious, it pulled me over to display the many accessories being offered in this department store. As a trail runner, my footwork is the primary component that has received the most attention for a while. It seems more efficient to increase the cadence in a long run than leap & bound myself thru the woods in a hastily manner. So, I purchased the NB VIA Base which is essentially a pedometer and tried it out yesterday. They also had the + version where you could calibrate your stride length for distance but that is of no interest to me. A fun little goal for the remainder of the fall season will be to see whether the same hilly loop being used can be done taking more steps in less time to complete. During all these sessions, I'm going to make correlations to the impact on HR and find a happy medium.

Saturday, this concept popped into my head as I spent a morning w/Erik Kaitala on the SHT up between CR 301 & Castle Danger for an out-n-back. It was much wetter than expected by us. However, we never complain over said location to do a glorious run...
