update from my office

Everything has been great post marathon. On the Wednesday following G-ma's I met up w/Erik Kaitala for a nine-miler on the roads up to Strand and back on both sides of the Lester River. Despite a little bit of residual soreness on the descent, which is expected, I considered myself as good as recovered.

That next weekend I got busy to see how my condition really was only a short time of light activity later. For me, doing big consecutive efforts tells more than any other structured format. However, it has drawbacks if placed inappropriately in your season. Lets just say I got lucky on this occasion. Saturday, Sunday & Monday I would roll three centuries in a row!!! I've done a couple 100+ mile rides in as many days in the past but never a trilogy. Pete joined me on the second one to break up the monotony which came much appreciated. The week after displayed no signs or symptoms of what I had just accomplished, leaving me happy as a clam.

Around the Fourth of July, summer finally sank its claws into the northland and this was perfect. Since I'm entering a triathlon for the first time this weekend the arrival of heat left me wanting to do nothing more than swim. Lake Superior was recording temperatures higher than normal making it unnecessary to use this gear. Regardless, I need to get reacquainted w/it as my sense of security is greater in the open water than in just a pair of board shorts.

Otherwise, except for minor component changes to my steed(FSA aero bars)
there is nothing earth shattering to speak of. Adding some intensity lately too is mixing up the pattern I suppose. Did 6 x minute-on-minute-off recently as this race in Ashland is a sprint distance instead of an olympic course. Aggravated the right shoulder wearing them webbed gloves creating some concern but keeping morale on the positive.
