fizzle in the drizzle

Eccentric maybe, but I never argue the claim that I've been off my rocker. When talking about my schedule to people lately I basically respond saying, "only once a year" pertaining to the # of times I really race. Finding a 24-Hour MTB event to do solo is truly the only thing that gets me out the door to train now days! This morning for example, I did the first of two runs upon swiping out of work(the other will come later this afternoon when I run back) and wasn't deterred in the least to stride home in rain showers just above freezing w/a 22 mph NE breeze in my face. I must admit, it did take its toll but not as much as riding in 36 mph winds that gusted to 43 mph on the lake shore Sunday. I enjoy various forms of racing but in a way consider them all preparation for the one I totally get absorbed into like a sponge. Adverse weather helps make a person tough as nails and can be a preview of what he/she may feel like all night. Last week I began more organized planning and will pay closer attention to volume than I did throughout the winter. The extended forecast is ugly and I may have to spin in my living room on the rollers sharing moments in the elements. One lovely thing about precip currently is that if you suffer from allergies as bad as I do right now then you also know this is the best air to suck deep into the alveoli.
