flurries yet.....WHY NOT?

At this rate I'm done guessing when spring will finally arrive and stay put. Yesterday morning I woke up at my folks house in the TC to see a light blanket of white on the ground as I made my way out to the kitchen to prepare what was needing to be a hot cup of java! Very uncomfortable conditions for the 31st annual Get in Gear 10k. Temperature was in the mid 30's and the winds strong from a westerly direction. It was almost visible to watch the snow melt each time the sun peaked thru which was seldom to add some dampness to the equation. Being my first time on this course I wore my heart rate monitor and tried hard not to get caught up w/other people which helped. I ran much smarter than a week ago as my splits were more even and my allergies improved slightly(probably from the icy mess). Having mustered up a nice kick to close the deal I felt pretty happy and like to think I'm coming together right as the trails open.

Today I decided to cut my run short in order to visit more w/family before leaving. I felt quite well and had less fatigue and soreness than expected. Upon returning, my legs seemed antsy so I laced up at dusk to get in some more that I had forgone earlier. My breathing really cleared and I could tell how suffocated my working muscles have been yearning for oxygen. My entire body was responsive and moved efficiently down the road. Glad I went out for this one!!
