How you doing?

One nice thing about the uphill commute after working a job and dealing w/all the tedious yet mandatory stressors we all encounter, I get to feel how well I'm really absorbing my training load. Today I ran up Howard Gnesen Road and entered the "guardrail trail" of Hartley from a spur trail on the backside of Ridgeview GC. Some would say the conditions right now are awful but I think they're ideal. With this December being fifth on a list receiving the most snow in the Twin Ports there is only so much packing that can be done to 30+ inches w/half still on the ground. At this time I prefer to go slow and have to work really hard and give no thought to the fact that my pace is 1.5 to twice that of if the situation were favorable. Having raced cyclocross thru mid-December of last year I know that I tried to hold on to peak form longer than my body permitted. By doing so, I developed some bad habits. So, it's nice to slow down the cadence to where I can pay more attention to my gait. It's been a mental challenge too in starting over again w/the phases and I need to be patient during this build of fitness. All in all, I'm a bit tired but I should be and losing a couple kilos wouldn't hurt matters.
