flurry of nordic

Well, sitting here this evening I can describe my feelings in apprehension. Nobody likes going into a huge weekend of racing w/doubts of whether body parts will hold up to the rigors of a tough snowshoe course.

Last Saturday, my time spent on Northland Country Club was a blast! That was my first excursion out on those grounds, although, I've considered it awhile now. Views that are inspiring and terrain consisting of many arduous climbs w/the opportunity to follow golf cart paths in the woods dividing fairways. I'm definitely going to be using this next season A LOT!! My tissues were good for 20 minutes and following that it became annoyingly uncomfortable. Being able to keep moving forward, however, this bothersome sticky feeling couldn't be ignored.

On Sunday, I got out me trusty steed and continued to enjoy the 1.5:1 ratio I've been using since mid-winter. Pugsley and Mukluk bikes look fun I suppose but there is really no need for 'em if you're staying on the beaten path. Riding 700 x 35 is a much better time in my opinion than marshmallow tires. Singletrack and snomo trails enhance all perceptives when rolling euro 'cross style.

After riding on the roads Monday, I felt the urge to go for one last run Tuesday. Identical story to my previous snowshoe which had me end it @ 29 minutes rather than an hour like on the weekend. I'm certainly not going to gain anything more before tomorrow and I've supplemented enough w/other forms of exercise to not fall off the wagon too much. Driving my knees to the bar during my road bike on Wednesday to keep the strain off my achilles has left me very fatigued still right now. Recent snowflakes are hanging in there which prompted me to grab the skate ski equipment and check out conditions yesterday. A few patches of dirt showing on the ascent but once up top, coverage remains fantastic. Wet snow almost had me take a face plant once going from shaded to brightly exposed downhill. Regardless, I wish I had been out doing this more often following the onset of my injury. Oh well, what's done is done, the answers will present themselves in the morning.....
